FAQ

Are kids allowed to attend the classes?

We welcome all ages! Although we have some classes geared towards kids and families, children are welcome at all of our classes. Classes that include drinks with the price would still cost the same for a child; they are able to get soda!

I’ve never baked before! Would I be able to take this class?

Yes! Our classes are for everyone. There is no baking involved as that is already done for you. The classes are best described as drawing with edible materials.

Is my child/niece/nephew, etc. too young for the class?

Each child is different so there really is no “right age” for attending the class. Some children will focus on the design while others like to pile on the icing and eat the cookies right away! We like to focus on everyone having a good time regardless of their design process.

Do you offer group discounts?

We offer group rates for private events of 10 or more.  Each By the Batch baking class is priced to bring you the best possible value given the venue, number of designs, and class duration.

Do I need to register in advance?

YES! We require registration at least 5 days prior to the class date. Registration is extremely important for our business since we freshly bake the cookies in the shapes needed for the class designs. We also need to prepare all of the icing. The hard work is already done before you arrive!

Are the classes BYO?

You are not able to bring your own drinks or food. All of the locations we work with offer food and drinks for purchase. Feel free to order meals, apps and drinks while we are working.

I have a food allergy, are the cookies safe for me?

Unfortunately due to shared kitchen space we are unable to provide cookies that are safe for allergies. There is always a chance of cross contamination. Please email us prior to registering if you have an allergy concern of any type.

Do you offer private classes?

We do! Check out the private events page for more information.

Will I be making the cookies and icing myself at the class?

Due to the limited time that we will have you will not be making the cookies or icing. Your place will be set with all of the materials you need already prepared. We are happy to share the recipes with anyone that has attended a class. Send us an email for recipes or to ask for tips and tricks. Feel free to try out making your own at home, and please share the results when you do!

How long does a class typically last?

We estimate about 2 hours for a class with a set of 5 cookies. Kids classes are usually 1-1.5 hours. Class times will vary a bit based on designs.

What is the price of the class?

Check out our reservations page to see the price of the class you are interested in attending.

What ingredients are used?

We send out the recipes to each person that has attended the class so they can give it a try at home! If you are concerned about allergy information please send us an e-mail and we would be happy to provide more information before you sign-up.

Can I pay at the door?

No, we require every participant attending the class to register online in order to reserve their spot. If you arrive at a class without having registered we cannot guarantee that there will be enough material for you to join.

Do you offer a refund if I cannot attend the class?

You are able to cancel your reservation up until 7 days prior to the class date. [Example: class is scheduled for Tuesday Jan 10th you are able to cancel on or before Tuesday Jan 3rd] Cancellations 4-6 days before the class date charged a 50% cancellation fee. Unfortunately, cancellations will not be accepted 3 days or less from a class date. Anyone that does not cancel and not show up will not receive a refund. We understand this is a strict policy, however, due to the unique nature of these classes, materials are made specifically for each person attending.

Typically, how large is a class?

Our class size varies by venue. We may have smaller classes with 20 people and larger ones with up to 60.

Do you offer a vegan cookie option?

Unfortunately at this time we do not offer a vegan option.

Do you offer a gluten free cookie option?

We are able to offer a gluten free option for a slightly higher price. Although we use gluten free ingredients for these cookies there may still be a chance of cross contamination due to the use of shared equipment. E-mail bythebatchnyc@gmail.com if you are interested in gluten free cookies.

Do you accept custom orders for events?

We are able to accept a very limited number of custom orders. If you are interested in placing an order please send an e-mail.  When sending an e-mail please include as much information as possible including the following:

  • Date you would need the cookies by. (Note this may be different than the date of your event!)

  • Design(s) of cookie you are interested in..

  • Number of cookies you are interested in.

  • Budget if you have one.
